If you enjoy indoor cycling, Purple Pedal is the studio for your spin workout. Purple Pedal provides a fun, healthy environment with innovative equipment, amenities and design to support your indoor cycling practice and encourage a strong cycling community.
After completing Purple Yoga’s teacher training, Pedal’s Danny Strain decided, with a little encouragement from Joe Vogt, owner of Purple, to get certified as an indoor cycling instructor, too. He teaches indoor cycling and yoga for Purple and has earned the honor of Teacher of the Month.
As a yoga instructor, Danny emphasizes strength, flexibility and the cultivation of mind body awareness through the integration of long, slow holds and crafty flows. More unique is his indoor cycling instruction. He builds heat (and sweat) through a challenging warm up. He incorporates fun dance moves and exercises while cycling to the beat of music, and he combines strengthening and conditioning with climbs and sprints.
When asked about his instruction, Danny states that he “tries to provide an intelligent teaching style that makes yoga relatable and fun for all levels of modern day (yoga) students” and that he “tries to make the indoor cycling class fun, challenging, and energetic.” His favorite part about the pedal class is the people who come that cycle.
In addition to his yoga and indoor cycling certification and instruction, Danny is also trained and certified in Mixed Martial Arts and has worked as a kickboxing instructor for youth. He was certified to teach kickboxing at the age of sixteen.
Equally impressive, Danny is a singer-song writer. He has his own music project entitled Daniel Strain, but also plays music and sings with Welcome to Limerick and No Better. He has been performing live since he was fourteen.
For those interested in indoor cycling and Danny, join him Monday, January 4 and Monday, January 18 at 5:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. for his specialized Pedal to the Metal spin class. I imagine a bunch of people pedaling in time to heavy metal music hardcore. According to Steven Tyler, lead singer of Aerosmith, “We believed that anything that was worth doing was worth overdoing”—pedal on at Purple with Danny Strain.
