Ma Yoga studies, E-RYT 200, yacep
In May 2015, Bonnie received her Master of Arts in Yoga Studies from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, CA. She feels extremely honored to have been part of the first inaugural graduating class in this new Master Degree program that focuses on Yoga. She also completed Yoga Philosophy Certifications from University of California, Irvine as well as Loyola Marymount University. Being on the path of a lifelong learner and student is very much a part of Bonnie's path as a jnana yogini.
Her karma path includes completing Yoga Teaching Certifications from Bikram Yoga College of India, YogaWorks, White Lotus and Prime of Life Yoga in order to teach yoga to others. Bonnie has been teaching group classes since 2002 and has focused on hatha yoga, therapeutic yoga, restorative yoga and prenatal yoga. She has developed and lead many workshops focusing on these areas of the yoga practice. Additionally, Bonnie co-developed and co-leads the Teacher Training program at Purple where individuals can participate in a 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training Program. This program is designed to provide an immersion learning experience for those wanting to learn more about yoga and to learn the techniques of how to teach yoga to others.
Bonnie's bhakti yoga path continues through her work with the international, educational, non-profit alumni organization of individuals who participated in the Up with People program. She has served on the Board of Governors, lead as a Committee Chair, and has co-produced and directed a variety of special events and performances. The educational and community service emphasis of this international organization continues to embody Gandhi's statement of how to be the change you want to see in the world.
Bonnie's early training in dance and in the performing arts world has given her an unique understanding of how we are all fully integrated individuals when we can connect our mind and bodies to our emotional layer called the "self". Whether it is in dance or in yoga--connecting into a fully integrated human person remains for Bonnie the pathway of yoga--the connection to our truest sense of self and the wisdom that is contained with each of us.
