Sean Johnstone's journey into yoga began when yoga "found" him at a point in his life when he needed it most. After his first class he knew he had not only found an outlet but also a passion. His path into teaching came in 2008 as he was cleaning bathrooms for a local yoga studio for free yoga due to lack of work. The studio needed an emergency teacher and they saw Sean's passion. They set him up with a mentor and within 2 weeks, Sean had a class on the the schedule. A couple of months later Sean completed a 100 hour vinyasa teacher training through Core Power Yoga and later that summer in 2008 he followed it up with their 200 hour training.
Sean developed a style that is a dynamic, creative powerful vinyasa flow. His passion for arm balancing and inversions will challenge you to safely test your limits. As he takes you on this physical journey he guides you deep into the landscapes of the mind through weaving yoga philosophy, with stories of the Buddha and his own personal experiences.
Currently Sean is a resident teacher at Purple yoga and Pure Love Yoga. Through Purple yoga he has had the honor of co-leading a retreat to the legendary White Lotus Retreat Center in Santa Barbra. His skill for arm balancing and inversions has led to him to hold regular Intro and Advanced to arm balancing and Inversion workshops for not only Purple Yoga but multiple studios and organizations including Lulu emon and I Heart Yoga in the Park. His love for music has led him to teach at multiple music festivals. For the past 3 years he has been the resident yoga teacher at Slinky festival in the Sequoia mountains. He has also taught at Tropical's spring festival at the La Jolla Indian camp ground and Flowasis festival at the fire gardens in San Diego.
